We are a historical European martial arts (HEMA) club and practice fighting with swords, daggers, spears and poleaxes along with grappling. We teach historically based techniques recreated from a range of manuscripts and books written sinced the fourteenth century. We focus on the works of the Italian master of arms, Fiore dei Liberi, but also study other late mediaeval and early renaissance European masters.
To minimise the risk of injury, we train in modern protective gear, using heavy duty masks, gloves and jackets and our weapons are either blunt steel or plastic weapon simulators.
We train on a Tuesday night in Kew, and are an inclusive club, open to all who are happy to abide by our code of conduct. If you would like to join one of our classes, first, please contact us at mailto:armizare@proton.me. No martial arts experience necessary and we have some loaner kit available.
We are are affiliated with the British Martial Arts and Boxing Association, are fully insured through them and our instructor is fully DBS checked.
